I am not sure if the old watchword “bread and games”, which the old Romans liked and used it in exact way when they wanted to pacify the civil disorders which were spread once in a while in the Rome by poor people and slaves, is still valid. The thought hidden behind it is that you won’t touch by hand the person who feeds you and entertains you and you gonna like him even though the food is poor and the entertainment bloody…
I have strong feeling that even our local government tries sometimes the similar thing. Otherwise I am not able to explain to myself the enormous number of different useless events which are taking place all the time in the Freedom square. The quality of these events sucks mostly and is worth nothing at all. But somebody is always having fun and always is there somebody selling the beer and sausage for reasonable price.
The last rubbish idea is beach bar, which was built in the Freedom square few days ago. Almost anybody doesn’t understand what is the sand pile doing here. Still there is somebody who likes to sit on a sun-bed and gets some bear from the obvious sponsor of this thing. I cannot help myself but this is to me very cheap and pathetic way how to entertain some people and how to show them the bright side of the local government and how to distract the others from realizing that the leaders do not have organization skills (see the other article) on very high level at all and how to distract people from realizing that there is dug up the main street again after one year…
I am still quite afraid that the beach is just propaganda before the local government elections. I hope still that the people will realize and figure out that that old watchword works just for short moment followed by hangover and hard sober. I still hope that people will get it and that they will vote fore somebody else that the guys who think that they can buy with this cheep gesture our favor.
For people would be much bigger help than the beach where they can sunbath for one month clean and polished Freedom square every day.
